Paying it Forward - 2006 Profiles

Lt. Col Michael H. Morgan

Alumnus - Tucson, AZ

Mike was a husband, father, full-time real estate loan officer and part-time Air Force reservist when he began pursuing his bachelor's degree at University of Phoenix. After an eleven-year banking career and an eight-year enlistment, Mike parlayed his degree into a commissioning opportunity as a navigator. Additionally, Mike has now served in several command positions, and is presently serving as comptroller in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Arizona Air National Guard. He now wants to pay forward his educational success gained from University of Phoenix to his niece.

Breanna Rose McLaughlin

Recipient - Tucson, AZ

Breanna credits her family and her high school math teacher for instilling a strong belief that education is the key to success. As a high school student, Breanna was active in the Japanese American Society, served as president of the Future Farmers of America Green House chapter, co-founded a Gay and Straight Alliance chapter, served as a football manager, participated in the drama department, and made the National Honor Roll every year. Now that she has graduated high school, Breanna is compelled to get right back in the classroom. She wants to become a history teacher. “I want to teach future generations how to succeed in life.”
