Like many young professionals who enter the workforce for the first time, Cristina struggled to balance full-time work with full-time studies. University of Phoenix provided Cristina with the ideal structure to master this balancing act and earn her Master of Business Administration in Marketing. Cristina feels blessed by all the opportunities and promotions that resulted from her work ethic and her ability to apply coursework to the professional realm.

Angela’s early adulthood was marked with loss and a troubled relationship with her ex-husband. Angela summoned the courage to walk away from a bad situation and take on the task of raising her daughter as a single parent. Despite hardship, Angela continued to do anything necessary to stay afloat. Her sister and nominator, Cristina, could have never imagined a more deserving recipient of the Paying it Forward® Scholarship. With this opportunity, Angela will pursue her dream of becoming a counselor to help and serve victims of domestic violence.
