The unique format of University of Phoenix classes allowed Dave to work full time, raise his son and make a cross-country move — all while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business. To Dave, there is no more valuable lesson than learning to believe in yourself. Earning his degree gave him the confidence to buy and incorporate his own small company, open a storefront and continue to develop new business prospects. Dave nominated his ex-wife, Christie, for the Paying it Forward® Scholarship. He says, “Christie is an intelligent, hard-working person…On her own merits, she is an exceptional candidate.”

Christie had spent years pondering her path in life and educational goals when she received a nomination for the Paying it Forward Scholarship. Christie wishes to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and hopes to enter into a rewarding counseling career, helping children with special needs as well as their parents. Christie’s goal “is to help everyone affected, with knowledge and support,” she explains. “With this opportunity, I can begin.”
