Paying it Forward - 2011 Profiles
Job and his family struggled month to month to make ends meet. Encouraged by his wife, Job determined he would make a difference for himself professionally and become the first member of his family to earn a college degree. Job’s education was exactly what he needed to earn job promotions that he wouldn’t have qualified for in the past. Job was thrilled to pay forward this opportunity to his nephew Alex and “express the importance of how University of Phoenix can potentially and most surely change your life.”
Recipient – Pinellas Park, FL
Despite family and financial hardships through high school, Alex maintained good grades and a part-time job to assist his family with bills and necessities. Job explains his nephew “Alex is not one to ask if you need help. He is the type to get up and just help…He is as humble as he is intelligent.” With the Paying it Forward® Scholarship, Alex will pursue a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Thanks to the encouragement of his mother and the rest of his family, Alex is confident in his commitment to succeed while always doing the right thing.
