Paying it Forward - 2011 Profiles
Regina R.
Alumna
As a wife, full-time employee and mother of three – including a son with learning difficulties – Regina’s life held endless responsibilities and challenges. University of Phoenix provided the supportive environment Regina needed to act on her desire to learn and to set an example for her family by earning a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Regina also found support from an exceptional in-home childcare facility run by nominee Charlene H. After five years of friendship, Regina was delighted at the opportunity to help an outstanding child care provider and educator take her commitments and passion to the next level.
Charlene H.
Recipient
As a teenager, Charlene often cared for the younger children in her family. Her love for children and passion for education and caring developed early on. In 1999, Charlene opened a child care facility that went beyond the basics to provide “active learning experiences around character building, physical activity, and social and emotional development.” Charlene’s unique approach to child care inspired University of Phoenix alum Regina to nominate Charlene for the Paying it Forward® Scholarship. Charlene’s apparent commitment earned her the chance to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Education.
