Christine was forced to withdraw from UCLA when her mother suffered from a diabetic stroke. She left Los Angeles and returned home to Sacramento to provide care and support. After years of putting her degree on hold, she turned to University of Phoenix to complete her bachelor’s degree program. She then went on to earn her master’s degree providing a valuable lesson of determination and commitment for her two young children.
In addition, Christine transitioned into an upper management position at her company and relocated to Ohio. Her online program gave her the flexibility to adapt to her changing work environment without sacrificing her education. She has chosen to pay forward her education to her sister-in-law Danielle.
Recipient - Elk Grove, California
Danielle is only 21 years old but she has had to take on a lot of responsibility in her short life. She started her education at the local community college but both her parents took ill so she had to support them in their health and finances. She has had to deal with extenuating circumstances that make it impossible to pay for tuition and attend class on a traditional schedule. Danielle’s dream is to become a doctor of scientific research but she needs to take one step at a time. The online option at University of Phoenix will allow her the opportunity to complete her bachelor’s degree and get on the right foot towards her ultimate goal. Additionally, this scholarship will alleviate the financial pressures of paying for tuition so she can still take care of her family.
