Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Management

Reynoldsburg, OH

In early 2009, Catherine S. began her pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Business from University of Phoenix. Catherine, who possessed 25 years of industry experience in her field, wanted to combine her expertise with an education to seek advancement and promotion. She launched into her degree without missing a beat as a single mother of two and a full-time corporate employee. She engaged in her coursework with enthusiasm, learning to apply new business concepts and to develop her inner leader both at home and in the workplace.

Catherine earned the Ohio Business Student Scholarship in February and the Ramona Calhoun Memorial Scholarship in August 2012. Her strong GPA and academic progress helped her qualify for multiple opportunities. Yet it was Catherine’s optimism and commitment that shone through in her essays and secured her spot as a two-time institutional scholarship recipient

Among Catherine’s many achievements, she feels particularly accomplished for confidently assuming leadership and mentorship roles in recent years. She credits her University of Phoenix classes for critical insight on this path. “I now know that with the tools I am acquiring from the curriculum, success as a leader will be accomplished,” she explains. “Some of the skills and information, at first glance, seem like little things that may not matter, but when utilized, they can be grand. … Sometimes just the small things can change a person’s life for the better.”
