Chad started his career in the U.S. Army at Ft. Knox. He went on to achieve advanced individual training at Ft. Lee in Virginia and was stationed at Ft. Stewart, Georgia for the duration of his enlistment. Chad was also the S-4 Clerk at the 2nd Brigade Headquarters at Ft. Stewart. “My time in the military gave me an opportunity to serve my country, travel and learn about diverse cultures, appreciate a chain of command, understand the reality of personal sacrifice and respect the concepts of discipline and personal resolve,” says Chad.
Chad is attending University of Phoenix with the help of the AMVETS Scholarship. Receiving the scholarship has built Chad’s confidence as a student and motivated him to continue his education. It has also decreased the amount of Federal aid Chad needs to pay his tuition and fees. Chad will also be the first person in his family to earn a bachelor’s degree. “I believe that earning my degree will enable me to pursue employment that will not only give me a better opportunity to support myself, but will also allow me to find a career that I will enjoy and where I can make a difference in the lives of others,” he explains.
The experiences Chad had in the military have prepared him for success. One of the tools he learned was the discipline to follow through on his goals, no matter the challenges life throws in his way. The military also taught Chad team work. He worked with people from different backgrounds who were sharing the same objective – just like in class. “The military absolutely presents lessons, training, real-life experiences and lifelong lessons that can be applied to any personal situation,” says Chad. He is currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Accounting program.
