Felicia W.

Institutional Scholarship Recipient

Major: Business Administration
Campus: North Florida
Anticipated Graduation Date: 2012
Hometown: Jacksonville, FL

Felicia discovered her scholarship program through an e-blast from HandsOn Network – Jacksonville. The Serve It Forward scholarship empowers individuals to achieve their educational goals and career aspirations, including the further development of their leadership and service abilities. The full-tuition and fee scholarship helps volunteers, like Felicia, complete an undergraduate or master’s degree program of choice.

Felicia explains that it took a lot of determination and effort to complete the scholarship application. Like her fellow students, Felicia balanced many responsibilities during the application period. “Receiving this scholarship has given me an opportunity to obtain my MBA with a concentration in marketing, without the financial stress. Without it I would probably not be in school,” she admits.

When asked what makes her a “Phoenix,” Felicia answers, “I am a Phoenix because of my determination to be successful on my terms. As an entrepreneur, it is very challenging to balance managing a company and attending school. It’s my desire to succeed professionally and academically, so that I will be in a better position to help others.”

Felicia is attending the North Florida Campus and the advice she gives to students seeking scholarships is, “Be resilient... there will always be someone or something trying to get in your way. Never give up! Define your own roadmap to success.”
