Major: English
Campus:
Phoenix
Anticipated Graduation Date:
2014
Hometown:
Phoenix, AZ

Kyle is earning his Bachelor of Arts in English degree from University of Phoenix with the help of the Goodwill of Central Arizona Scholarship.  Goodwill of Central Arizona was established in 1947 to serve as a vehicle to provide people with disabilities or people who would otherwise face obstacles to entering the workforce. Kyle is one of only four recipients of the full-tuition scholarship and will be attending class at a Phoenix campus.

Kyle learned of this scholarship opportunity from his Goodwill career advisor who is a University of Phoenix alumnus. She called him on the phone and told him about the flexible class schedule and positive experience she had. “She inspired me, and I inspired myself to choose University of Phoenix,” Kyle explains.

Kyle wants to be a teacher when he completes his degree program. He is currently very active in Taekwondo; Kyle has taught group classes and has helped one student earn his Black Belt. Kyle says, “By teaching others in this fashion, I realized my career aspiration of becoming a teacher. I discovered that I possess the patience and understanding to teach, as well as the desire to help others achieve success.” Kyle is scheduled to begin teaching group classes again in January.

Kyle has had to overcome difficulties in his formative years, including emotional disabilities. He is currently 18 and ready to begin a new chapter in his life healthy and hopeful.
