Tim is the recipient of three scholarships from the American Hotel and Lodging Education Foundation (AHLEF). He sought out scholarships online for students in hospitality programs and found the 2011 Ecolab Scholarship, 2011 American Express Scholarship and 2011 Hyatt Hotels Scholarship for Minority Lodging Management Students Scholarship.
Tim chose the Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Hospitality Management degree because he has been working at a hotel for five years and likes the service industry. In the future, Tim would like to work on the southern coast of California and, later, be the general manager of a luxury hotel or cruise line.
“These scholarships have accounted for about a semester’s worth of tuition, so it is a huge help to get a contribution like that and reduce my college expenses,” he says. “These scholarships are a relief from that obligation.”
Tim studies online to complement his busy and demanding schedule as an assistant general manager of a hotel. “Online classes give me the flexibility to continue my career while I work to advance it.”
