Spirit of Service Award

About the award

The Spirit of Service Award recognizes University of Phoenix graduates for their efforts to better the communities in which they live and work. The activities that alumni support are as varied as our alumni themselves, including Boy Scouts, the American Red Cross, foster programs, animal welfare organizations, food banks, the Make a Wish Foundation and more.

History of the Spirit of Service Award

Started in 2008 as the Alumni Community Service Award, to-date, more than 400 alumni have received this honor. In 2014, the award name was changed to the Spirit of Service Award. "This name reflects the true passion and spirit embodied by all of the award nominees," says Goge Johl, Sr. Manager of the Alumni Association. "Each nominee has made a difference to their community. The stories alumni share with us about their community service are truly inspiring."
