What is Career Ops?
Career Ops is a complimentary, virtual recruiting event hosted by Phoenix Career Services from Wednesday, March 12 to Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Designed to help you connect your University of Phoenix education and valued military skills to rewarding career opportunities, Career Ops features many top employers who are actively seeking military alumnus candidates, like yourself, for positions they have open now.
What IS a ‘virtual’ career networking event?
Conducted completely online, Careers Ops is interactive and engaging—plan to give yourself a few hours to explore the site upon your first visit. And be sure to check back in to the site over the course of the career fair for new presentation schedules and live chat opportunities with employers.
What will the virtual site look like?
Picture a United States Navy aircraft carrier named USS Intrepid. That’s what will greet you when you visit the website on March 12. Click on Intrepid and you’ll be taken inside the career fair. Once inside you’ll encounter various employer halls, a career coaching hall, and more. Dropdown navigation tabs along the top of the Career Ops site ensure you can easily find what you are looking for including viewable schedules for live presentations and live chat, plus employer directories so you can make every step of your virtual visit count.
What can you do at Career Ops?
Career Ops is all about making connections with military-friendly employers. At Careers Ops you’ll be able to post your resume, review open positions, apply for jobs, interview, and connect directly with military employers actively seeking qualified candidates.
Employers will be available for online chatting throughout Career Ops, and you can check out the “Chat Schedules” tab in the top dropdown to find more information on chat times and participants. The “Search Jobs” tab enables you to filter down into the industry, employment type, and geographical region you are seeking to find work in.
What employers are attending?
Thus far, 20 companies that foster military-friendly cultures have confirmed their attendance. They are: American Express, Cintas, Compass Group USA, CSC, Fifth Third Bank, Frontier Communications, Gate Gourmet Inc., H&R Block, Hilton Worldwide, ManTech International Corporation, Paychex Inc., Tech Data Corporation, Trilogy Health Services, Wells Fargo, Cintas, Concentrix, and Insight Direct USA.
What should you do to get started?
First, register for complimentary career coaching to make the most of your Career Ops experience. The deadline to register for complimentary career coaching is March 7, 2014. Register for career coaching. Career Coaching can help you gain insight into what recruiters are looking for, and can help you showcase your unique abilities, skills and education.
Second, register for the actual Career Ops event. When you register as a job seeker, you’ll receive an email confirmation of your registration. This email confirmation will also provide you with the website link you’ll access once Career Ops goes live.
