Meet University of Phoenix Chief Academic Officer and Provost, John Woods Ph.D.
In January 2018, University of Phoenix named Dr. John Woods as the new Chief Academic Officer and Provost. In his role, Dr. Woods is charged with amplifying the University’s high-quality, rigorous and career-relevant academic programs, while spurring innovation to help working adults move efficiently from education to careers. His office will provide oversight of the University’s Colleges and programs, assessment of student learning, data analytics, instructional innovation, faculty engagement, student experience and institutional reporting.
“Dr. Woods brings a remarkable wealth of experience to his new role from his more than 20 years in education, and his leadership will be essential as we continue to enhance our focus on student success,” said University of Phoenix President Peter Cohen. “His passion for supporting and developing faculty who teach working adults will ensure that we continue to excel in helping our students achieve their higher education dreams.”
“Throughout my career, I have always been driven to find new ways to make education more accessible and effective, and to help educators develop innovative strategies for engaging their students,” said Dr. Woods. “I am excited to continue on that path at University of Phoenix, and I look forward to being a part of the University’s long legacy of commitment to improving the lives of working adults through higher education. To become better attuned with their needs, I endeavor to connect with alumni and have joined University of Phoenix’s Alumni Association networking group on LinkedIn, where I hope to hear more about our resilient alumni community and join their conversation.”
