1. COVID-19 response
We want to help our students and alumni who are facing job losses, wage reductions or the potential of losing employment due to the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic. As economic uncertainties mount, Career Services remains available to help you manage transition and change in your career. We’ve added several new resources to help you navigate this transition. Here’s a list of the new and existing tools that might be helpful during this time:
Job Search Support Phoenix for Life Career Services is offering “just in time” job search support through timely webinars and articles focusing on quick and consumable tips and help for anyone who find themselves unemployed due to COVID-19. Additionally, our always-available resources give students and alumni access to PhoenixLink’s UOPX and extended employer networks.
PhoenixLinkTM Career Portal Job Listings The PhoenixLink job board can be accessed through eCampus simply by clicking the Careers tab. There are 2,000+ employers in the system which have the ability to post full-time, part-time and internship positions.
2. Articulating skills to employers
At UOPX, our primary goal is to help you further your education so you are prepared for your future. That’s why our programs are designed to align to occupations and our courses will help you develop necessary skills. As you learn new skills in these courses, you are adding to the value you can bring to an organization.
Career Services now offers help to our students and alumni to communicate your value proposition to employers through your resumé and during interviews. We want you to be ready to enter the workforce with a relevant credential and the ability to articulate the career skills you developed along the way.
Career Services supports you as you progress through a degree and afterward, on your career journey. Our focus is to be your resource in your education and career. Please contact us to find out more about how we can help you articulate your value to employers with resumé assistance and interview techniques, and to access the other resources we offer to help you make the next step forward in your career.
3. Career support near you ― and at every turn
Career Services emphasizes career readiness as a shared resource during the educational process. The idea is to connect your academic journey to your career journey, with support all along the way as you prepare yourself for your desired career outcomes.
We know that important conversations about your career don’t solely happen with our staff. UOPX puts career readiness at the center of your UOPX experience. To that end, we now have career ambassadors available to our students and alumni.
Academic representatives are also trained in providing career conversations and resources to help support you when discussing career goals in program choice and next steps. These individuals have received specialized training and can help you determine whether you need to take the next step to speak to a certified career coach.
4. Virtual career fairs
Want to connect with employers? On May 26, UOPX began hosting virtual career fairs with employers. Employers across multiple industries attended
These chat-based, virtual career events allowed participants to interact with companies and recruiters, from the convenience of home. More career fairs are planned later this summer and all current UOPX students and alumni are invited to participate.
