Safety and Security Measures

Please follow the safety measures of Chase Field for your safety and the safety of others.

  • Masks and social distancing will be required for everyone. Bandannas, scarfs, etc. not acceptable for masks).
  • Guests and graduates will be 6’ or more spaced apart for seating and other applicable activities for the ceremony.

Parking fees will be required ($10-15). Closest garages are Chase Field Garage (401 S. 4th St., Phoenix, AZ. 84004) and Jefferson St. Garage (261 S. 3rd St., Phoenix, AZ. 85004). There are a number of accessible parking spaces in all garages. There will also be a designated drop off point on the West side of the venue, look for signs.

For contactless parking, fans can reserve parking prior to arriving at Chase Field by visiting or in the MLB Ballpark app. If parking is purchased upon arrival, fans are required to pay by credit/debit card (cashless) to reduce contact between fans and staff.

Road closures

Check with Arizona Department of Transportation for any road closures the weekend of commencement.


Graduates and guests will enter through the West side of the ballpark and use Gates B-E. Tickets, clear bags, masks and social distancing are required to enter the venue.

Ticket information

Tickets will be required for guests to enter the ceremony. Graduates will be allowed into the venue without a ticket however, they will need to be wearing their cap and gown or have it with them to show security for access into the venue.

ADA accommodations

If any of your guests will require ADA accommodations at the commencement ceremony, there will be staff at the venue that can assist with seating accommodations. Wheelchairs will not be available for use during the ceremony. When ordering your tickets, you can select accessible seating to accommodate a guest(s).


Due to Fire Marshal regulations, strollers are not permitted in the seating area.  Please be advised that University of Phoenix is not responsible for any damage or loss to personal property.

Regalia items to bring

Bring your cap and gown. Additionally, bachelor students must bring their stoles and master and doctoral students must bring their hoods. Use a cool iron if necessary, to ensure a wrinkle-free appearance. Military graduates: Remember to bring your cord to the ceremony. The military cord was available to order on the regalia web site. If this was not ordered, they will be available the day of the ceremony.

Graduate check-in

Please bring your name index card the day of the ceremony. The index card shows a bar code with your name and degree. These cards will be mailed outto each graduate approximately 2 weeks prior to the ceremony. We can provide a duplicate name card if needed the day of the ceremony. 

Honor cord eligibility

Must be a bachelor’s degree student. Program GPA of 3.85 or higher. The University does not have an honors designation for associate, masters or doctoral students.

All bachelors level students who have met the University Honors requirements, by the commencement ceremony date, and have met all other eligibility criteria, will be recognized at commencement ceremonies with the University honor cord.  Students who attend commencement ceremonies and wear the University honor cord prior to degree conferral are not guaranteed the “Graduated with Honors” designation. Academic standards must be met for a “Graduated with Honors” degree to be awarded. Students may fail to meet the University Honors standards after attending commencement ceremonies. 

Honor cord distribution

The University identifies graduates registered for the commencement who are eligible for the honor cord. If you are eligible to receive an honor cord, one will be provided to you at no cost on the day of commencement.

Four guests max allowed per graduate. This includes children of all ages. We cannot provide additional tickets in order to meet the capacity restrictions in place in order for us to host this ceremony.

You will get a printed program the day of the ceremony. The digital program version will be viewable 3 days prior to the ceremony date and up to 30 days following the conclusion of the ceremony.

Leaving the ceremony

Guests will be released in an orderly fashon to ensure a safe exiting for everyone. We ask all graduates to stay until the end of the program and participate in the recessional march. After the recessional, you will exit the ceremony to the outside plaza area to meet your friends and family. Everyone will be asked to keep moving away from the building and clear the area.
