Things to know before you go

Graduates should park in Parking Garage F, free of charge. Please note that the parking garage is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once the garage is full, cars will be directed to other nearby garages. Family, friends and visitors should park in garages D, D1 or D2. Guests will be responsible for their own parking which may require payment (between $5 and $10). Link for map: http://www.cfearena.com/directions.php.

Graduates will proceed to the side entrance, also known as “The Venue” for check-in and line-up. Guests will use the main entrance. Seating will be first come, first serve.

Graduate check-in
Please bring your name index card, which shows a bar code with your name and degree, on the day of the ceremony. These cards will be mailed out approximately two weeks before the ceremony to each graduate. We can provide a duplicate name card, if needed, on the day of the ceremony.

Personal belongings
There is no storage at the commencement venue for personal belongings. Please make arrangements for a guest to hold any personal items or carry them with you at all times. University of Phoenix is not responsible for any damage or loss to personal property.

Regalia items to bring
Please bring your cap and gown, as well as your stole (undergraduate students) and/or hood (graduate students). Staff will assist you in arranging your hood before the ceremony. Use a cool iron if necessary to ensure a wrinkle-free appearance. For any special regalia needs or for pickup arrangements, Herff Jones accepts cash or card.

The deadline to order regalia was April 24, 2019. If regalia is needed, it will need purchased the day of the ceremony. Pricing for a full regalia unit: Associate- $37.25, Bachelor- $49.75, Master- $55.75

Military graduates: Remember to bring your cord to the ceremony. The military cord is available to order on the regalia web site but will also be available on the day of the ceremony.

Honor cord eligibility

  • You must be a bachelor’s degree student with a program GPA of 3.85 or higher. The University does not have an honors designation for associate, masters or doctoral students.
  • If you have met the University Honors requirements, by the commencement ceremony date, and have met all other eligibility criteria, will be recognized at commencement ceremonies with the University honor cord.  Students who attend commencement ceremonies and wear the University honor cord before degree conferral are not guaranteed the “Graduated with Honors” designation. Academic standards must be met in order for a “Graduated with Honors” degree to be awarded. Students may fail to meet the University Honors standards after attending commencement ceremonies.

Honor Cord Distribution Section

  • The University identifies graduates registered for the commencement who are eligible for the honor cord. If you are eligible to receive an honor cord one will be provided to you at no cost on the day of commencement.

ADA Accommodations
If you or any of your guests will require ADA accommodations at the Florida Commencement Ceremony, please contact the Florida Commencement team at CFLCommencement@phoenix.edu. Wheelchairs are not available, so please plan accordingly. There will be several accessible seating areas. Ushers will be available to guide and direct people requiring ADA accommodations.

The University has coordinated with GradImages Photography to photograph graduates before and during the ceremony.

Leaving the ceremony
We ask that you stay until the end of the program and participate in the recessional march. After the recessional, you will exit the ceremony and go outside using the main arena entrances to meet your friends and family.

Lost and found
Please inquire with a University of Phoenix staff member for lost items. Any unclaimed items will be left at the commencement venue.
