Course level: Undergraduate
This course introduces students to basic pharmacology, the principles of drug action on body systems, and dose-response relationships. It focuses on basic pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Focus is on the cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, pain, neurological medication therapies, as well as antibiotics, anti-infective and anti-inflammatory medications The course also provides an understanding of drug regulation, substance abuse, and psychosocial influences to medication utilization and administration. Finally, the course describes pharmacotherapeutic uses of the major classes of drugs, as well as genetic and genomic principles and routes of administration of these drug types.
