Curriculum Constructs & Assessment: Physical Education

Course level: Graduate

This course explores the secondary physical education classroom, professionalism, curriculum, and teaching and assessment strategies. Participants identify the educational needs of secondary students by exploring current instructional theory, national and state standards including the developing motor skills through activities, developing levels of physical fitness, understanding principles of human movement, and developing and practicing social skills and the value of fair play in games and sports. The course also helps prospective educators develop skills in selecting and adapting instruction for diverse student populations. The course will also emphasize classroom and sport/field management skills and safety as they relate to physical education instruction. Participants will explore the integration of various resources and literacy into physical education and examine parent and community involvement.

A prerequisite is required for this course. The purpose of a prerequisite is to ensure students have the knowledge and/or skills needed to be successful in the course. Students are required to provide proof of prerequisite during the enrollment/registration process.

To meet a course prerequisite requirement, a student must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Successfully completed the prerequisites course at University of Phoenix

  • Provide proof via transcript of completing a comparable course (at least 75% match) or higher level course with at least a grade of C at another institution.

  • Have a University of Phoenix approved Student Appeal on file with the University.

Prepare your documents

During the checkout process you will be prompted to provide proof of the requirement(s). If you completed the prerequisite at another institution, be prepared to upload an official/unofficial transcript.
