General Psychology is a survey course which introduces the student to the major topics in scientific psychology as applied to human behavior. Applications of these principles will be made to the human experience.

  • Explain the conditioning processes involved in learning.
  • Define unconditioned stimulus, conditioned stimulus, reinforcement, shaping, and extinction.
  • Describe long- and short-term memory.

Motivation and Personality

  • Distinguish between the different personality theories.
  • Explain the various theories of motivation.

Psychological Disorders and Treatment

  • Analyze symptoms of psychological disorders.
  • Compare therapies designed for each school of thought in psychology for treating mental disorders.
  • Explain the severity of autism spectrum disorder.

Social Thinking

  • Describe the four ways that groups affect people.
  • Analyze conformity and social influence.
  • Distinguish between prejudice and discrimination.
