About:

This course provides students with a foundation in the design of psychological research. The importance of how to select appropriate measures for a study, different research designs - experimental, quasi-experimental, and correlational, and threats to reliability and validity are discussed. Competency A: Demonstrate an understanding of the foundations of research in the industrial-organizational (I-O) field by exploring statistical concepts. Competency B: Select appropriate quantitative research designs for solving basic and applied problems in I-O psychology. Competency C: Align different types of research questions to the research designs. Competency D: Examine the analysis and interpretation of descriptive and inferential statistics. Competency E: Evaluate and control common threats to internal and external reliability and validity. Competency F: Determine ways to conduct ethical and responsible quantitative research.
