Watch how we are getting America back to work

In September 2012, we began a conversation about the skills gap — the need for a more educated America to fill open jobs. Watch as we discuss the tools our students use to help put them on the path toward a brighter future. This video gives you the inside scoop on adaptive learning, and the alumni network, as well as our partner companies that want to hire our grads.

  • Arra Yerganian: University of Phoenix is really a unique school. It’s the school for the working adult. It’s the school for the mom, the dad, the stay at home parent, the individual who is balancing life and family and all the challenges of a real world experience. In September, we began speaking with America about the skills gap, the need for a more educated America prepared to take advantage of the unfilled jobs out there. In Phase 2 of the campaign, we dive deeper into the tools that we provide students and how those tools can help our students be more prepared and more connected as they make their way through the workforce.

John Schneider: At the University of Phoenix, we’re using technology to deeply understand the learner. The adaptive learning team offers a number of tools to help them get through their courses. These tools are important to students because they help the student understand what they do know and what they don’t know, and they point them in the right direction.

Nikki Sandoval: I don’t think a day goes by where I don’t hear from a Phoenix by email or phone, where they want to connect with a fellow Phoenix through the Phoenix career services portal.  So, we’re always creating opportunities for our alumni and our graduates to be able to connect with that Phoenix community. Every single graduate of University of Phoenix is automatically a member of the alumni association. So whether it’s one day after graduation or twenty years after graduation, we’re here to serve them.

Russell Esquivel: What’s different about our concept, our version of connecting education to careers, is that we’re having direct relationships with employers. We’re providing very credible career path, very credible options from day one when the student begins with the University of Phoenix. . Another benefit that we offer to our students and alumni is that we currently have hundreds of companies that are posting jobs with the University of Phoenix specifically for attracting our student and alumni talent. With our national footprint, we’re uniquely poised to be able to get America back to work.
