New to the retail industry or looking for opportunities within it? Our Retail Fundamentals Certificate program can help you develop marketable skills valued by retail employers. You'll learn industry basics that prepare you for three certifications from the National Retail Federation® (NRF) Foundation: Customer Service and Sales, Advanced Customer Service, and Sales and Retail Management.

Developed with input from our Retail Advisory Council, whose members represent online and brick and mortar retailers, the Retail Fundamentals certificate covers customer service and management, merchandising, personnel management, leadership and supervision and retail strategies. Students may apply their capstone, or final course, to their own retail-related work environment.

The Retail Fundamentals Certificate (Undergraduate) requires a minimum of 18 credits, which may come from a combination of required and elective courses.

The Retail Fundamentals certificate focuses on skill development in customer service management, sales and marketing, supply management, retail operations, merchandising, and personnel management unique to the retail industry. Upon completion of this certificate, students will possess the industry-aligned knowledge and skills necessary to be successful professionals in the retail industry.
