If you’ve always thought about becoming a teacher, but your bachelor’s degree is in a discipline other than Education, our Master of Arts in Education/Secondary Teacher Education (MAEd/TED-S) can help you achieve your goal.
This graduate degree program is intended for students with no prior teaching experience. The guiding philosophy of the MAEd/TED-S is to build upon your existing skills and knowledge. To help you become a confident and effective classroom teacher, you’ll add curriculum, instructional and assessment skill sets to your area of expertise. Blending academic theory with relevant coursework, field experiences and student teaching, our curriculum includes all essential elements required to help you prepare for a career in teaching.

The core curriculum of the Master of Arts in Education/Secondary Teacher Education degree program ranges from 36 to 46 credit hours, depending on the requirements of your state agency. The Master of Arts in Education program with options in Elementary Teacher Education and Secondary Teacher Education has been approved for initial accreditation by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC).
