We all need help sometimes. And if you’ve been out of school for a while, chances are you could use a refresher or two in math. Our Center for Mathematics Excellence (CME) can help you do just that. From online tutorials in Math and Statistics to help recognizing and overcoming math anxiety, we’re ready to offer the support you need.
Support comes in many forms
First, you might want to browse tutorials available through our Running Start program. Running Start, powered by ALEKS® Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces, includes video presentations on Algebra and higher Algebra as well as practice tests and math problems.
If you’re apprehensive at all about jumping into a college-level math course, you might also benefit from reading our list of debunked myths about math. It’s untrue, for example, that some people just have a mathematical mind. Rather, every child born is hardwired with mathematics sense.
In addition, the CME offers study tips and strategies for taking tests. You’ll find information on how to develop strategies to tackle any story problem. And you’ll enjoy links to further reading and tutoring helps available outside of eCampus.
Selected math and statistics courses also include access to WorldWideWhiteboardTM Web conferencing for online math tutoring. Watch in real time as your tutor solves an equation right before your eyes. Chime in with questions or “listen in” as others post comments or questions. When you’re ready, try your hand at finding the solution under the guidance of your tutor. Ask your academic advisor about program availability.
