Proud to partner with tradition and education outreach
The Chicago Bears have maintained a pivotal role in professional football history since the National Football League was founded in the early 1900s. The team’s notoriety as the hard-charging “Monsters of the Midway,” however, is offset by its longstanding commitment to the community.
We’re proud to be part of that legacy through our support of the Bears School Outreach program. As the team’s Official Education Partner, we also sponsor book drives and other activities to help further educational opportunities for every member of the Chicagoland community.
Backing the Bears School Outreach program
Each fall, throughout the regular season, we join many of the team’s most popular players to visit local public schools, promoting the value of education, character development and making better choices. About 20 different schools are visited every year, impacting as many as 6,000 at-risk kids. Players even share stories of their own challenges met — and overcome.
Virtual Book Drive
In support of Chicago’s public schools, the 2013 season also featured our most successful Bears Virtual Book Drive to date. Together, we raised more than $1,500 and filled book orders for libraries at Dewey School of Excellence and Lewis School of Excellence. Both schools are part of the Academy for Urban School Leadership.
Bears Chairman George McCaskey will join University representatives for a special ceremony to unveil the donated books later this winter.
