The Doctoral Experience
At the School of Advanced Studies, you learn from a collaborative online Scholar, Practitioner, Leader Model that has been developed by industry leaders and experienced scholars. Your doctoral experience can also include:
- Group discussions: In online doctoral group discussions, your doctoral faculty member posts in-depth, thought-provoking questions that require you and your fellow learners to interact and provide real insights based on research that centers on current industry challenges.
- Dissertation: As part of your doctoral program, you will be required to complete original research in your area of study. To complete your dissertation, we help to match you with a Dissertation Chair in your field of study who will guide you through the integrated dissertation model. This model allows you to begin working on your dissertation in your first year, then investigate, research and write your dissertation throughout the rest of your degree program.
- Residencies: Doctoral residencies provide you with opportunities to network and study with professionals in your field, and learn a variety of content topics in a face-to-face environment and get detailed guidance as you prepare to write your dissertation. Your residency is also tailored to where you are in your doctoral program and in which doctoral program you are enrolled. Once you begin your residency, you will have an opportunity to practice your group research and presentation skills.
Doctoral programs require three- to eight-day residencies in select cities. Please contact a University enrollment advisor for details.
