Learning at the School of Advanced Studies is designed around the Scholar, Practitioner, Leader Model, which represents an evolving, dynamic matrix. Learners incorporate these three elements—scholarship, practice, and leadership—and the associated skills, tools, and dispositions into an interdependent whole.
Viewed operationally, the model represents a paradigm for incorporating lifelong learning (scholarship), social and workplace contribution (practice), and the ability to exert positive influence (leadership) in our learners' academic, professional and personal lives.
Leadership is both the core and the driving force of this way of learning. All School of Advanced Studies doctoral programs emphasize developing competence in leadership. By participating in classroom dialogue, conducting original research and integrating theoretical and application-based knowledge, you’ll expand your understanding of leadership and put it into action.
