Jeff Syracuse, MBA/TM '05

Meet Jeff Syracuse,

MBA/TM '05

When Jeff Syracuse decided to pursue his MBA in Technology Management, his goal was to grow his career in the music business. He had held various positions in sales, marketing, customer service and operations at Broadcast Music, Inc. The knowledge and skills Jeff improved upon in his Master’s pursuit also increased his value within his community. Today he is embarking on a new journey as an elected member of Metro Council for Nashville-Davidson County.

Learning beyond academics

“My classes were taught by deep subject matter experts who had long careers in their chosen field.  I was learning a great deal not only from the academic work, but also the life experiences and professional growth that my teachers offered,” says Jeff, who also credits his MBA program with helping him develop balance and focus. “It is a program that both challenges and supports the student. Earning a degree from the University of Phoenix made that balance achievable.”

Serving his community

Serving on the boards of various non-profit organizations, Jeff realized how important the skills he had learned in his MBA program were. “The skills of finance, accounting and managing human resources became very valuable as I began to excel in helping my community,” he says.

As the newly elected member of Metro Council representing the 15th District in Nashville-Davidson County, Jeff looks forward to continuing to apply and refine all he learned about leadership and a balanced life from his MBA instructors at University of Phoenix.
