Things to know before you go
$12 parking fee required. Closest garages are North Garage (475 E. Monroe St, Phoenix, AZ. 85004) and West Garage (185 N. 2nd St., Phoenix, AZ. 85004). There are a number of accessible parking spaces in all garages. If drop off for a guest or graduate is necessary, there is a pull-in option located at 3rd Street and Monroe Street.

Metro light rail has dedicated stops at the Phoenix Convention Center.
*There are several events happening in the downtown area so please plan accordingly with drive time and parking.
There will be four entrance options at the North building-corner of 5th Street & Monroe Street, 5th Street (center doors), 3rd Street (main, center doors) and corner of 5th Street & Washington Street.
Please pick up an index card at the tables located on Level 200 Meeting Rooms when checking in for the ceremony. The index card shows a bar code with your name and degree.
Tickets required-please do not forget to bring them to the ceremony
Graduates will be mailed their requested ticket(s) prior to the ceremony. Tickets will be required to enter the ceremony. We do not anticipate having any additional tickets the day of the ceremony.
There is no storage at the commencement venue for personal belongings. Please make arrangements for a guest to hold any personal items, or carry them with you at all times. Please be advised that University of Phoenix is not responsible for any damage or loss to personal property.
Regalia items to bring
Bring your cap and gown. Additionally, undergraduates must bring their stoles, and graduate students must bring their hoods. Staff will assist you in arranging your hood prior to the ceremony. Use a cool iron if necessary to ensure a wrinkle-free appearance. For any special regalia pickup arrangements, Herff Jones only accepts cash.

Honor cord eligibility
- Must be a bachelor’s degree student. The University does not have an honors designation for associate, masters or doctoral students.
- All Bachelors level students who have met the University Honors requirements, by the commencement ceremony date, and have met all other eligibility criteria, will be recognized at commencement ceremonies with the University honor cord. Students who attend commencement ceremonies and wear the University honor cord prior to degree conferral are not guaranteed the “Graduated with Honors” designation. Academic standards must be met in order for a “Graduated with Honors” degree to be awarded. Students may fail to meet the University Honors standards after attending commencement ceremonies.
Honor cord distribution
The University identifies graduates registered for commencement who are eligible for the honor cord. If you are eligible to receive an honor cord one will be provided to you at no cost on the day of commencement. Please contact Phoenix.Commencement@phoenix.edu with any honor cord-related questions.
If you or any of your guests will require ADA accommodations at the Phoenix Commencement Ceremony, please contact the Phoenix Commencement team at Phoenix.Commencement@phoenix.edu or call 480.804.7600. Wheelchairs are not available so please plan accordingly. There will be several accessible seating areas available.
No balloons, confetti, noisemakers, food or drinks are allowed in the commencement venue. Unopened bottled water is acceptable.
The University has coordinated with GradImages Photography to photograph graduates before and during the ceremony.
The University has coordinated with Herff Jones to display and sell class rings at the reception following the ceremony.
Due to fire marshal regulations, strollers are not permitted in the seating area. There will be a designated area for strollers. Please be advised that University of Phoenix is not responsible for any damage or loss to personal property.
Lost and found
Please inquire with a University of Phoenix staff member for lost items. Any unclaimed items will be left at the commencement venue.
