Risk frameworks, as they apply to critical infrastructures, are evaluated in this course. An example security and compliance plan is reviewed and serves as a model for course assignments. Templates for writing security policies and developing a security and compliance plan are employed in a course project.

    Define function of the NIST Framework Core including implementation tiers and profiles.

Week 2

  • Explain how the Framework is used today and what it is intended to accomplish.
  • Discuss how and why the NIST Framework was developed.
    Analyze the Protect function of the NIST Framework Core including implementation tiers and profiles.

Week 3

  • Assess the purpose of the Implementation Tiers and how they are used.
    Describe the Implementation Tiers and how they can be used.
    Analyze the Detect function of the NIST Framework Core including implementation tiers and profiles.

Week 4

  • Discuss how the implementation of the NIST Framework can be “sold” to management.
    Assess Framework Profiles and how they are used.
    Define the Respond function of the NIST Framework Core including implementation tiers and profiles.

Week 5

  • Explain the role of senior executives and board members.
    List the types of businesses that the NIST Framework can help.
    Define the Recover Function of the NIST Framework Core including implementation tiers and profiles.
