Effective October 1, 2026, University of Phoenix ("University") offers a Family Member 5+1 Benefit to eligible family members of current employees of Clients that have an active Education Services Agreement with the University.
For purposes of the Family Member 5+1 Benefit, a "Client" means an organization with an active Education Services Agreement with the University for which the Family Member 5+1 Benefit is available.
The Family Member 5+1 Benefit is provided and administered by the University and is separate from any tuition assistance or other educational benefit provided by a Client. Neither the qualifying employee nor the eligible family member is required to receive tuition assistance or any other educational benefit from the Client to qualify for the Family Member 5+1 Benefit.
Eligibility
An "Eligible Family Member" means the Spouse, Domestic Partner, or Child of a current employee of a Client.
A Spouse means a person to whom the employee is legally married.
A Domestic Partner means an individual age eighteen (18) or older who shares a committed domestic relationship with the employee, is financially interdependent with the employee, and is not the employee's Spouse.
A Child means the employee's natural child, stepchild, legally adopted child, foster child, or other child for whom the employee is a legal guardian.
The qualifying employee is not required to be a current or former University student for an Eligible Family Member to qualify for the Family Member 5+1 Benefit.
A family member who otherwise satisfies the relationship criteria above is not eligible for the Family Member 5+1 Benefit if the individual is enrolled at the University as of October 1, 2026.
An Eligible Family Member must identify the Client that employs the qualifying employee, identify the qualifying family relationship, and satisfy the University's applicable admission, enrollment, attendance, academic, and financial policies and procedures.
To establish eligibility, the Eligible Family Member must certify that the information provided regarding the qualifying employee's Client affiliation and the family relationship is accurate. The University reserves the right to request additional information or documentation to verify the qualifying employee's current employment with the Client and/or the qualifying family relationship.
The University may deny, correct, suspend, or remove the Family Member 5+1 Benefit if eligibility cannot be substantiated or if information provided in connection with eligibility is inaccurate or misleading.
Family Member 5+1 Tuition Benefit
The University will waive tuition for every sixth (6th) eligible course for an Eligible Family Member who meets the requirements below.
Successfully start and complete five (5) eligible University courses after October 1, 2026; and
Enroll in and post attendance in the sixth (6th) eligible course within a 365-day period beginning with the first qualifying course's attendance date.
The 365-day period resets after each tuition waiver or expiration of the applicable 365-day period.
The tuition waiver applies only to the sixth eligible course, regardless of whether the Eligible Family Member completes that course.
Only eligible courses successfully started and completed on or after October 1, 2026 may count toward the five (5) qualifying courses. Courses started or completed before October 1, 2026 will not count toward the Family Member 5+1 Benefit, and the benefit will not be applied retroactively.
The Family Member 5+1 Benefit applies to eligible University degree, certificate, and credit-bearing courses at applicable tuition rates and may not be combined with other University offers or excluded programs.
The University administers the Family Member 5+1 Benefit directly. A Client has no obligation to administer, verify, fund, or otherwise provide financial support for the benefit; provide employee or family-member data to the University; notify employees; or promote or maintain the benefit.
The Family Member 5+1 Benefit is separate from any Client-provided tuition assistance or educational benefit program and from any third-party administrator arrangement associated with such a program.
The University may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Family Member 5+1 Benefit prospectively at any time. Any such modification, suspension, or discontinuance will not affect a benefit already earned or applied.
Please note: For students using VA benefits, certifying VA benefits for any reason in conjunction with your university alliance benefit will use a month of entitlement.
