0:00 This weekend, we're here to celebrate 0:08 our very best faculty. 0:09 It's the 2021. 0:10 And by virtue of the fact that we didn't have it last year, 0:13 it's the 2020, 0:15 faculty of the year awards for the University of Phoenix. 0:18 So, it makes this year a bit special 0:20 because we've got representatives 0:22 from the cohort we chose last year, 0:24 coming together with the cohort this year. 0:27 One of the highlights of the weekend, 0:28 I think is again, meeting these people in person, 0:31 talking to them about what they do and why they do it, 0:34 what drives them, 0:35 and them having that interaction among each other. 0:39 It's really motivating to see those connections made 0:42 and they become relationships that are sustained. 0:46 We have a huge number, obviously of amazing faculty. 0:50 And this faculty is just slightly above 0:52 because they exert even more energy, 0:56 exert even more passion and compassion for our students. 1:00 And when you're dealing with a working student, 1:03 a working adult student, 1:05 life often gets in the way of their studies. 1:08 - These are students who are as grateful 1:11 for the care and the empathy that you showed to them, 1:15 as they were the knowledge that you taught them. 1:17 - And you give them the confidence 1:20 to be able to come out of that shell and to do that work. 1:23 - And so, what we read in the nominations time 1:26 and time again, 1:27 is that these faculty were amazing in many ways, 1:29 they were dynamic. 1:30 They knew the subject material. 1:31 They had amazing experiences in the workforce 1:34 that were relevant, 1:35 that helped the students learn the content of the course. 1:38 But what we hear that's different 1:39 about our faculty of the year is they really cared about me. 1:44 - When we start with empathy to teach our students, 1:49 it changes everything for them, 1:50 sit in their seat, see where they are, 1:53 and then you can serve them. 1:55 - I want them to feel there's nothing they cannot do. 1:58 I wanna leave my students with a little piece of my heart, 2:01 and I hope that they carry that with them 2:03 whenever they're called upon to do hard things. 2:06 - Students see that you're real people. 2:09 We need to be mindful of where they come from. 2:11 And when they see that you are 2:14 in a very much similar situation with the same stresses, 2:17 I think it's very important. 2:19 - And so, the faculty really bring the curriculum 2:22 to life for us. 2:23 - And you're the most engaged, 2:25 and you're the most compassionate, 2:27 and you're the most caring. 2:29 And you represent the very best of why our students 2:32 choose University of Phoenix. 2:34 - I think our recognition program 2:36 with this as sort of the capstone, 2:38 really symbolizes the faculty that we do care 2:41 about what they're doing. 2:42 We do recognize when they do it really really well. 2:45 And we wanna develop more of a relationship with them 2:47 to share that with people and celebrate that.
