Yes, University of Phoenix has been continually accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), hlcommission.org and its predecessor, since 1978.
Edcor pays the school on behalf of Hartford Healthcare. Students submit a voucher and University of Phoenix sends the voucher and invoice to Edcor after course completion, processing payments if course requirements are met.
If you meet your employer policy requirements, your employer or your benefits administrator may pay your tuition bill directly using the direct bill tuition benefit. If you qualify, this can reduce your need to rely on savings, federal loans, or other sources to pay for school. Speak with your employer to learn the specific details of your tuition benefits plan.
Here’s how the Direct Bill tuition benefit works:
1. Request tuition assistance from your employer or your benefits administrator. Make sure you are eligible to have the agreed upon tuition amount covered by your employer.
2. Provide proof of funding and approval from employer or your benefits administrator. You may be responsible for the cost of tuition and the materials resource fee if you do not meet the employer course requirements.
3. Enroll in your coursework.
4. Complete your coursework, meeting your employer’s grade requirements.
5. Submit your grade to your employer.
6. If your employer’s eligibility and grade requirements are met, your tuition will be paid for your allotted number of courses per year by your employer or your benefits administrator to the University, with no out-of-pocket cost for you!
7. Please contact your employer or your benefits administrator to ensure you understand all the details of their tuition benefits plan and what specific costs and how much of your costs are included. Please check with your employer or your benefits administrator to ensure continued eligibility and grade requirements. Minimum grade requirements vary by employer.
We work with your employer to defer your tuition payment until after your course is complete. If you don’t meet your employer’s course requirements, you will be responsible for the cost of tuition. Review eligibility requirements with your employer directly.
Yes. Our programs are designed specifically for working adults. With online classes, you can attend class online whenever it fits your life, day or night. You’ll also get support by phone, chat or email, available up to 20 hours a day, 5 days a week. And you can start your degree year-round, not just once a semester.
Attending online class is easy because the classroom is always on 24/7/365. All you need is a reliable Internet connection. You simply log in to your virtual classroom to complete assignments, access course materials and resources, and interact with faculty and classmates. Class participation is graded based upon your contributions to online discussions. This is a great solution for students who might have a difficult time commuting and for those who learn better independently.
Applying is easy. Start your application and identify your employer when asked. Or, speak with an enrollment representative and let them know who your employer is. Finally, identify your employer in the University’s Student Portal financial plan before starting courses.

The Benefits will apply to Participating Employees who are receiving the standard University tuition rate and cannot be combined with any University offer or promotion and excludes the MBA-CB program and other competency-based programs the University may offer and any other specific program exclusions set forth in the Academic Catalog. Participating Employees may take up to eight (8) courses subject to course availability and University’s policy for a total tuition cap of $5,250 per Calendar Year (defined as January 1st through December 31st). University will waive resource fees on tuition assistance approved credit-bearing single courses, certificates, associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral courses until program completion.
Taking more courses than the maximum allotted amount for each tuition cap in a Calendar Year will result in additional tuition charges. Please check with Hartford HealthCare’s tuition assistance policy for further information regarding your billing options and payment details with respect to the Benefits.
Please note: For students using VA benefits, certification of a course solely for monthly housing allowance will use a month of benefit entitlement.
If the Agreement is terminated Benefits will immediately cease and will no longer be available to Participating Employees. Participating Employees enrolled in the University as of the termination date will be responsible for payment of all fees and tuition costs (at the then current tuition rate) for their next course and the remainder of their program in accordance with University financial policies and procedures.
