"The purpose of this class is for the student and dissertation chair to work together, with the dissertation committee to finalize and submit the dissertation proposal for a Quality Review of the research method and an Institutional Review Board (IRB) Review. Quality Review of the research method and IRB approval must be received to progress to DOC/737. Competency A: Develop a learning contract for completing the dissertation proposal. Competency B: Synthesize the influences of historical developments and trends on practices and policies in the relevant field of study. Competency C: Characterize a leadership problem situated in the historical developments and current trends in the field of study. Competency D: Propose a method for obtaining greater knowledge about an identified problem. Competency E: Create a dissertation proposal with a cohesive statement of purpose and process in researching and writing the dissertation. Competency F: Submit a dissertation proposal for Quality Review of the research method approval. Competency G: Complete the Institutional Review Board approvals for beginning data collection."
