RICHMOND, June 1, 2007 — University of Phoenix – Richmond earned full accreditation for its business programs from The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), an internationally recognized organization that accredits academic programs in business.
Currently, University of Phoenix – Richmond offers an associate of arts in business, associate of arts in accounting, bachelor of science in business, master of business administration, executive master of business administration, master of management, doctor of management and doctor of business administration. Earning ACBSP accreditation means that University of Phoenix – Richmond has demonstrated that it meets all internationally recognized standards of academic excellence in the field of business.
"The process of accreditation for us was one during which we recognized the importance and value of continuous quality improvement," said Freda Z. Hartman, Ph.D., dean of the College of Undergraduate Business and Management at University of Phoenix. "This accomplishment means that University of Phoenix has now joined an elite group of institutions with accredited business programs."�
There are only two major internationally recognized organizations which accredit academic programs in business – one is ACBSP and the other is the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. These are also the only two accrediting organizations for business programs recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). ACBSP accreditation, which University of Phoenix – Richmond earned, focuses its standards on aligning with the mission of teaching institutions that emphasize student learning, continuous quality improvement and faculty scholarship.
