Special Guest, Chicago Educator and Businessman Stedman Graham, to Share Lessons on Career Empowerment with Local Job Seekers
CHICAGO, December 1, 2009 — The largest private university in North America and the U.S.'s largest online job site are teaming up to help Chicago job seekers with a career fair that goes above and beyond just offering job opportunities, by focusing on identity, career and education through an interactive career fair and workshop. Attendees will have access to professional resume writers, image consultants and networking experts to help them retool their job-hunting approach and make themselves more marketable to employers.
Best-selling author, educator and businessman Stedman Graham will lead a session where he will share how his systematic approach to success, based on advancing life goals and aspirations, can help people become leaders of their own lives. Graham will also attend a special breakfast with University of Phoenix alumni and students.
University of Phoenix and CareerBuilder's "Build Your Career" event will take place on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at the downtown Marriott, located at 540 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL. The career fair will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and include leading employers such as Leo Burnett, Aflac, Chicago Bancorp, TCF Bank and H&R Block, among others. The interactive session led by Stedman Graham will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. followed with a question-and-answer session.
"We are under critical economic times and University of Phoenix is committed to helping Illinois resident's positively change and navigate their career paths," said Michael Kaley, vice president for University of Phoenix Illinois campuses. "At University of Phoenix, we support our students by offering a wide array of full degree programs, personal encouragement and success coaching to bridge the gap between who Illinois residents are today and who they want to be tomorrow."
"This is one of the toughest job markets in the nation's history," said Randy White, General Manager of CareerBuilder Career Fairs. "A key way to be successful in your job search is to repackage your skills and experience for a variety of employers, so you can maximize your visibility. Our fair will have experts on hand that can help job seekers build a stronger resume, prepare for interviews, expand their networks and pursue further education to open the door to new opportunities."
While attendees make the rounds to meet with recruiters, they can also visit career makeover stations for one-on-one advice:
