University of Phoenix® College of Health Professions Academic Dean Dr. Holly Orozco Appointed as Vice President of Arizona Public Health Association Board of Directors

Leader’s appointment reflects the University’s commitment to public health issues

PHOENIX, December 16, 2016—University of Phoenix® College of Health Professions today announced the appointment of Academic Dean Holly Orozco, Dr. P.H., M.P.H., to the Arizona Public Health Association (AzPHA) board of directors. Dr. Orozco joins the board, made up of healthcare professionals, community advocates, educators and those interested in public health, as vice president to support and fulfill a shared mission of improving health in Arizona communities. Dr. Orozco’s appointment covers a four-year term; next year, she will serve as president elect. In 2018, she will serve as president, and in 2019, past and former president.

“The importance of public health advocacy and resources in our communities cannot be overstated,” said Dr. Holly Orozco, academic dean for University of Phoenix College of Health Professions, “We have the opportunity to improve health and outcomes in Arizona by advocating for healthy communities, and I look forward to the opportunity to work toward this important mission with the Arizona Public Health Association.”

In her current role at University of Phoenix College of Health Professions, Dr. Orozco is responsible for overseeing program and curriculum development, and works with University leadership to execute on key initiatives. She has more than 10 years of experience in leadership roles within higher education and more than 20 years of experience working in the public health sector. Part of her experience in public health includes serving as vice president, president elect, and president for the Southern California Public Health Association. In addition, she serves on the Education Board of the American Public Health Association.

The Arizona Public Health Association, a non-profit organization founded in 1928, works to improve the level of health and well-being for all Arizonans through advocacy, education and professional development opportunities. Areas of focus for AzPHA include hosting public health events and providing resources to participate in leadership and volunteer committees.
