### How long does it take to earn a degree?

Associate degree programs typically take two years to complete. Bachelor's degree programs can be completed in four years. But you could save time and money on your degree by [transferring eligible credits](https://www.phoenix.edu/tuition-financial-aid/transfer-credits.html) from an accredited institution or applying to have your relevant [work and life experiences](https://www.phoenix.edu/tuition-financial-aid/prior-learning-assessment.html) evaluated for potential credit toward your degree.

Our online master’s programs can take anywhere from 12-37 months to complete depending on the degree or academic field you choose to pursue.

[Certificates](https://www.phoenix.edu/online-certificates.html)allow you to focus on skills you need for your career in a shorter amount of time — many of which can be completed in less than 9 months.

### Is University of Phoenix an accredited university?

Yes, University of Phoenix has been continually accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), [hlcommission.org](https://www.hlcommission.org/) and its predecessor, since 1978.

### What resources are available to help me understand the cost of my education?

Once you’ve chosen your degree program, you will complete a financial plan that will estimate your costs and explore potential ways to pay for it.

### How do I confirm whether there are education benefits available for me?

[Speak with an enrollment representative](https://www.phoenix.edu/request/request-information) for more information about your education benefits. Identify your company or organization on your application and let your advisor know the company or organization you are employed with. Finally, identify your company or organization in the University’s Student Portal financial plan before starting courses.

### Can I still go to school while working?

Yes. Our programs are designed specifically for working adults. With online classes, you can attend class online whenever it fits your life, day or night. You’ll also get support by phone, chat or email, available up to 20 hours a day, 5 days a week. And you can start your degree year-round, not just once a semester.

### How do I attend a class online?

Attending online class is easy because the classroom is always on 24/7/365. All you need is a reliable Internet connection. You simply log in to your virtual classroom to complete assignments, access course materials and resources, and interact with faculty and classmates. Class participation is graded based upon your contributions to online discussions. This is a great solution for students who might have a difficult time commuting and for those who learn better independently.

Or, [speak with an enrollment representative](https://www.phoenix.edu/request/request-information) and let them know who your employer is. ## *Terms and Conditions

There must be an agreement in place between the University of Phoenix, Inc. (University) and City of Dallas (hereinafter “Agreement”) for current employees to receive the tuition benefits set forth below (hereinafter referred to as the “Benefits”).

**Eligibility**

To be eligible for the Benefits, employees must (i) be and remain employed with City of Dallas; and (ii) must maintain attendance with the University defined as not taking a break longer than 365 days (hereinafter “Participating Employees”).

Participating Employees who are new students and self-identify as a City of Dallas employee in the University’s Student Portal (or through any other method of verification the University may require) after the Agreement effective date will receive the benefits set forth below, so long as the Agreement is in effect and has not been terminated. For those Participating Employees who are currently enrolled and already self-identified with the University, the Benefits will apply to your next course and will not be applied retroactively.

The Benefits will apply to Participating Employees who are receiving the standard University tuition rate and cannot be combined with any Alumni or Associate Transfer tuition rates, competency-based programs such as the MBA-CB program or other competency-based programs the University may offer in its discretion, any other University offer or promotion or any other specific program exclusions set forth in the Academic Catalog. For Clarification, nothing contained herein is intended to prohibit Participating Employees to enroll in these programs or use of any Client tuition assistance toward the excluded items listed above.

Participating Employees are subject to the University's admission and academic policies and procedures.

**Tuition Benefits**

The University will waive the tuition of every sixth (6th) course for Participating Employees who meet the following criteria:

- Enroll or be enrolled into a University degree program, certificate program, or credit bearing course after the Agreement is executed;
- Identify as an employee of City of Dallas with the University in the University’s student portal or other method provided by the University;
- Maintain employment with City of Dallas;
- Successfully start and complete five (5) courses as defined in the Academic Catalog after the effective date of the Agreement; and
- Enroll and post attendance (as defined in the University Academic Catalog) in the sixth (6th) course within a 365-day period from the first date of attendance in the Participating Employee’s first course after the effective date of the Agreement.

Once a Participating Employee receives the 6th course tuition waiver, the 365-day period will start again from the Participating Employee’s first date of attendance in the next course.

If the Participating Employee does not achieve the 6th course tuition waiver within the initial 365-day period, the 365- day period will commence again from the Participating Employee’s first date of attendance in the first course after the initial 365-day period expired.

The tuition waiver applies only to the 6th course regardless if the Participating Employee completes the course.

If Participating Employee is enrolled in a University bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral program prior to the effective date of the Agreement, the benefits set forth herein will apply after the effective date of the Agreement, upon self-identification by the student to the University and upon enrollment in the next course and will not be applied retroactively. Courses taken prior to the effective date of the Agreement will not apply towards the benefits.

Please note: For students using VA benefits, certifying VA benefits for any reason in conjunction with your university alliance benefit will use a month of entitlement.

**Resource Fees (electronic course material fees and books)**

The University will waive the first two (2) resource fees each calendar year (defined as January 1st through December 31st) for Participating Employees until program completion so long as the Agreement is in place and the Participating Employee does not take a break in attendance for more than 365 days.

**Term and Termination**

If the Agreement is terminated Benefits will immediately cease and will no longer be available to Participating Employees. Participating Employees enrolled in the University as of the termination date will be responsible for payment of all fees and tuition costs (at the then current tuition rate) for their next course and the remainder of their program in accordance with University financial policies and procedures.
