FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the Master of Business Administration degree

A Master of Busines Administration (MBA) is a graduate degree focused on high level business acumen and executive leadership qualities. We offer two great ways to get your Master of Business Administration degree. Each teaches 33 important skills but come in two different formats: traditional and competency-based.

A traditional MBA may appeal to you if you prefer more faculty instruction and taking one course at a time. A competency-based MBA (MBA-CB) might be a better fit if you have some business experience and prefer more independence, faculty mentorship and taking multiple courses at once.

The big difference between business administration and business management is that administration focuses on process, while management focuses on people. Business administration asks how to implement change at a high level, while business management asks how to encourage people to change.

How long it takes to complete an MBA depends on which Master of Business Administration degree you choose. Our competency-based program (MBA-CB) can be completed in less than a year because you’re taking multiple 16-week courses at once. Our traditional MBA degree program takes 18 months on average but can be shorter with transfer credits and course waivers.
