KWB Summit 2025: Scholarship, Society, and Change

October 16-18, 2025

Sponsored by the University of Phoenix College of Doctoral Studies and the Research and Scholarship Enterprise

ABOUT OUR VIRTUAL KWB SUMMIT

Theme: Exploring Scholarship, Society, and Change

The 2025 Knowledge Without Boundaries Summit, themed “Exploring Scholarship, Society, and Change,” is set to be a groundbreaking virtual event delving into the pivotal role that the scholarship of research plays in shaping society and driving meaningful change. This summit seeks to foster a dynamic collaboration, bringing together scholar-practitioners, subject matter experts, and other thought leaders from the various disciplines to critically examine how education, research, and intellectual engagement can address pressing societal challenges. Through keynote presentations, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, participants will explore the transformative prospects of research, highlighting innovative approaches and successful collaborations where specific research highlighted might have a notable positive impact on communities.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in rich dialogues on interdisciplinary and complex data-driven strategies for understanding, and assessing change needed for addressing the broader societal issues and challenges. The summit aims to empower participants with new tools, strategies, and perspectives to enhance their knowledge, drive further research and extend its application in real-world contexts. By fostering collaboration between academia and communities, the event seeks to inspire and equip scholars to contribute to societal transformation, ultimately adding to the potentials of the world around us.

This Summit seeks to:

  • Highlight the transformative potential of scholarship in fostering change.

  • Explore interdisciplinary and cross-cultural approaches to addressing societal challenges.

  • Foster collaboration between academia and communities to address real-world issues.

  • Encourage critical discussions on the ethical dimensions of research and scholarship.

  • Empower participants with new tools, strategies, and perspectives for creating meaningful societal impact.

KWB Summit/New Platform

For the 2025 KWB Summit, we will be using an updated version of Zoom. This new platform was successfully tested during the 2025 Colloquium earlier this year and received positive feedback from participants. The new Zoom platform will allow for a very streamlined conference presentation, where participants can actually view their schedules, register for the event within the same platform, and revisit earlier in the day recordings of all sessions. Look for more information on this addition to the Summit coming soon.

Call for Proposals [Closed]

The 2025 Knowledge Without Boundaries Summit has closed its call for proposals. The summit's theme, “Exploring Scholarship, Society, and Change,” focuses on how academic research and education contribute to societal transformation. Proposal submissions ended in June and are now under review. Applicants will be notified soon regarding acceptance.

Dissertation of the Year Awards Voting

We are currently inviting Dissertation Chairs, Committee Members, and other CDS faculty to nominate students for the Summit’s Dissertation of the Year Award. This award recognizes outstanding dissertation work by doctoral alumni who successfully defend their dissertations between July 31, 2024, and June 30, 2025. While the official application deadline was June 30, 2025, submissions may still be accepted for additional potential students beyond that date.
